‘Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did. So throw off the bowlines, Sail away from the safe harbour. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.’ Mark Twain
How much longer will you put off doing what you really want to do? What will it take to get you started? A high spec laptop, an ipad, Mont Blanc pen, best quality notepaper, expensive journal, a writing room, more research…. The list is endless, you can delay your writing project forever, you can delay any project forever…you can delay happiness and satisfaction forever too. What will it take to get YOU started?
Lack of fear? Guaranteed success? You’ll always be afraid. Afraid if failing, afraid that the finished result wont be as good as you envisaged. As for success, that depends on how you measure success. Don’t immediately aim for publication, aim to begin. Start where you are. Find a pen or pencil, any will do, the nearest one to hand; find some paper; back of an old letter or a flyer, back of a cheque book before they go obsolete. And begin. Make notes, write an opening line, invent a character. Don’t judge, don’t hesitate just write. Start where you are then you’ve got something to work with.
